The second half of Elton’s
The second half of Elton’s concerts on his Australian tour of 1986 added an 88-piece orchestra to the already 14-strong band. For ‘Your Song’, this amplified Paul Buckmaster’s original string arrangement to new levels.
During this portion of the performance, Elton’s costume was a nod to “Amadeus” Mozart…even down to the mole on his right cheek! Elton’s stage wardrobe for this tour was designed by Bob Mackie, one of his primary designers in the 1970s and also well-known for his work with Cher. In 1971, “Your Song” spent a total of 32 weeks on the UK singles chart and is an enduring fan-favourite to this day, being voted the “Nation’s Favourite Song” in 2017.
