Quickly showing you how to tell if a vehicle holds a branded title, with the title or without it. If you have the title, look at the box in the right hand corner. If the box is clear it is a clean title. If the box says salvage or lemon law buyback or any other type of branding, then it is a branded title (a salvaged brand is specific type of title branding as well as the other types of brands). If you do not have the title, you can go to the dmv or aaa and ask them if they can check the vin or license plate number of the specific vehicle you are trying to verify the title status to and you can find out from them (if they are willing to do so). You can also check with sites such as as Carfax.com, Autocheck.com, vincheck or vinlookup and the many others out there. Some are free, others you will have to pay for. These sites will show you if the car has had any reported accidents or damage, flooding, hail damage, lemon law buy back, odometer rollback and others ( not all damages will mean the title will be branded--a whole other topic to cover). It also varies by state how a title is branded and what for. It is loud and clear when a car has a branded title staus. Depending on the site you use, there will generally be a red flag mark (usually at the top of the report) signifying the car has a brand to it. If it is green the title is clean (again, depending on the site used). If it is yellow, the title will generally be stating there has been an accident or other issues reported but doesn't mean the title is branded. Hope this helps. Leave me your feedback! Thanks!
