মুক্তার দেশ হিসেবে পরিচিত মধ্যপ্রাচ্যের দেশ লেবাননে, ১৯৮০’র দশকে খ্রিষ্ঠান এবং মুসলমানদের মধ্যে এক ভয়ঙ্কর গৃহযুদ্ধ সংঘটিত হয়েছিলো। যাতে প্রায় ১ লক্ষ ৭০ হাজারের বেশি মানুষ নিহত হয়। সে সময়টাতে লেবাননের রাজধানী বৈরুতের আইন শৃঙ্খলা পরিস্থিতি, একেবারেই ভেঙে পরেছিলো। ফলে দেশটিতে একাধিক মিলিশিয়া বা সন্ত্রাসী গোষ্ঠির উদ্ভব ঘটে। এরা প্রায়ই বিভিন্ন দেশের নাগরিকদের কিডন্যাপ করে মুক্তিপন আদায় করতো। ১৯৮৬ সালের ২১ শে জানুয়ারী ও-জেও-সেওক নামে দক্ষিন কোরিয়ার এক কুটনিতিককে, বৈরুতের দুতাবাসে যাওয়ার পথে অপহরন করে এক সন্ত্রাসি বাহিনী। কিন্তু অদ্ভুত এক কারনে তারা কোন মুক্তিপন দাবি না করলেও সেই কুটনিতিককে মুক্তিও দিয়েছিলো না। সবাই ধরে নিয়েছিলো কুটনিতিক হয়তো মারা গিয়েছেন। কিন্তু এর এক বছর আট মাস পরে, হঠাত সাউথ কোরিয়া সরকারের কাছে বৈরুত থেকে আপহরন হওয়া কুটনিতিকের কাছ থেকে একটা বার্তা পাঠানো হয়। কোডের মাধ্যমে পাঠানো বার্তায় বলা হয় কুটনিতীক এখনো বেচে আছেন।
এই খবরে ভিশন দ্বিধায় পরে যায় সাউথ কোরিয়ার সরকার, কারন ১৯৮৮ সালে কোরিয়ার নির্বাচন অনুষ্ঠানের কথা ছিলো। যেহেতু সবাই প্রায় ধরেই নিয়েছিলো সেওক আর বেচে নেই, তাই তার খোজ পাওয়ার পরে, সরকার দ্বিধায় পরে গিয়েছিলো যে এই নির্বাচনের আগ মূহুর্তে কুটনিতিককে উদ্ধার করা উচিত হবে কি না? কিন্তু অনেক চিন্তা ভাবনার পরে সরকার শেষ পর্যন্ত সিদ্ধান্ত নেয় সেওকে উদ্ধারের জন্য তারা পদক্ষেপ গ্রহন করবে। এরপর যা শুরু হয় সেটা এক কথায় পাগল করার মতো। দেখতে থাকুন, আশাকরি ভালো লাগবে।
