Prince Edward is on an official royal visit to St Helena.
The last member of the royal family to visit the remote Island was Princess Anne in 2002.
The Duke of Edinburgh's visit includes opening an airport, meeting community leaders and learning about wildlife conservation efforts.
Daily Mirror Royal Editor Russell Myers discussed the Duke of Edinburgh's visit to St Helena with Sky News host Caroline Di Russo.
"Well I think you look at the current context of the King not being around and the Princess of Wales not being around, a bit more focus possibly on the sort of fringe royals as they were," he told Sky News host Caroline Di Russo.
"But I think the spotlight came on Edward this week because there were questions asked about the very fact that we are talking about a slimmed-down monarchy."
