Welcome to Northern Brewer University's online course, Hard Cider 101: How to Make Hard Cider at Home. This introductory class will teach you the basics on how to make a hard cider including all the equipment, ingredients, and processes, plus some of the things you need to consider along the way. This course is meant to introduce the initial information you need to know and give you the confidence and skills required to craft fine hard cider at home.
The goal of this class is to give students a technical overview of preparing apple cider or juice for fermentation, how to go about fermenting it, and the post-fermentation processes involved – including conditioning, backsweetening, and packaging. You’ll see how to make a batch of hard cider as we talk our way through the instructions.
