Full gameplay, longplay, playthrough, walkthrough and guide to the uncanny X-Men arcade game by Konami from 1992 via the 2010 Xbox 360 version . Konami's licensed scrolling beat'em run was on a roll after the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles & The Simpsons when they decided to adapt X-Men to it. Interestingly this version of X-Men was based on the 1989 X-men cartoon that only got one failed pilot episode called Pryde of the X-Men. This in itself seems a little odd seeing that the excellent and hugely popular X-Men: The Animated Series released in 1992 as well and the game would likely have been more successful if it was based on that version, but Capcom would get the license for it and create the legendary X-Men Children of the Atom.

In s of Konami's scrolling beat'em up X-Men is one of the low points, it's a good game in its own right, but is much weaker than Asterix & Bucky O'Hare which were also released in 1992. it doesn't quite do the source material justice, likely as Konami didn't have access to it all. The enemies are a really mixed bunch of multiple factions with Magneto being the main villain commanding an army of Sentinels with a few members of the Brotherhood of Mutants thrown in as bosses. It's an odd mix that doesn't work, Konami seemed to want to copy the Foot Clan from the turtles with them, but as they all look the same and fight the same it gets quite boring. The other troops are just odd as well rather than mutants, you fight things like giant bats and wasps, some mud monster and a half human tank enemy. There's a lack of fighting other mutants outside of the bosses it seems.

As with the 1989 TV pilot the X-Men are made up of Wolverine, Cyclops, Colossus, Storm, Nightcrawler & Dazzler as playable characters. With the supporting cast featuring Professor X & Kitty Pryde.

Emma Frost The White Queen is shown as an enemy in this as she was in the 1989 pilot which upset fans as she is supposed to be a member of the X-Men. Juggernaut uses a gun for some odd reason, Pyro,  Mystique and The Blob are three of characters that better match their comic book versions. Wendigo is a creature Wolverine's fights from Canada. The Egyptian enemy is suggested to be Living Monolith Ahmet Abdol, but there are three of him? Finally the robot boss is an obscure sentient synthesis version of Master Mold merged with Nimrod taken from the Uncanny X-Men 246-247 story called The Day of Other Lights!

The six player version with dual screens was something quite special to look at, there used to be one in the arcade at Lowestoft here in the United Kingdom. All in all it's still a good game with great 2D graphics for the time, let down by the stage design which isn't that good and the odd mix of enemies, don't really fit together well in the story. The sentinels should have had separate stages to the brotherhood, many stages look to be set in the Savage Land, but don't reflect it with the characters you meet. Sadly to date the only home port is this now delisted Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions.
