In this video, we're talking about 3 extra simple chord moves every songwriter should know. Instead of randomly switching chords with no rhyme or reason or not even beginning to know what kind of powerful chord transitions you have access to!

As songwriters, creating INTENTIONAL chord progressions rather than using the same old chord progressions can be a massive boost to our songwriting craft.

We're going to talk about the most simple but maybe most important chord move of all: V to I (5 to 1). This is the most powerful chord change we have in music (even more powerful if you make it a DOMINANT 7TH V chord).

We're also going to learn about a criminally under-utilized chord transition: iii to IV (3 to 4). iii chords in general are criminally under-utilized, and they sound absolutely beautiful and emotive when moving to a IV chord.

Finally, we'll talk about the power of going from a I to a iii, I to a vi, or just moving our chord up or down by a 3rd! Moving a chord up or down by a third gives this great feeling of the harmony CHANGING yet not feeling like the music is really GOING somewhere. This is largely because moving a chord up or down by a third will always simply change one of the three notes in your triad.

So, let's talk about 3 extra simple chord moves every songwriter should know!
