the fastest plane ever produced is one you may have never heard of, The X-43 is an unmanned experimental aircraft. it was developed by NASA, and is capable of extremely high speeds, reaching a record speed of Mach 9.6 during a test flight in 2004.
Unlike the X-15, which was rocket-powered, the X-43 was powered by a scramjet engine. This allowed it to achieve hypersonic speeds without carrying heavy fuel tanks or oxidizers.
While the X-43 program was successful in achieving its goal of demonstrating hypersonic flight, it was a research vehicle and was not intended for operational use.
