India currently does not have
India currently does not have any commercial mining of Lithium in the country, even though there were a few scattered sources. This is likely to change soon. India discovered a large reserve of Lithium in J&K in February, said to be about 5.9 Million Tonnes. Now a few days ago, there have been reports of another find in Rajasthan.
The lithium ore and the lithium anode prices have been rising very rapidly, particularly in 2022. Even though they have cooled somewhat in the recent months, this is certainly an extremely valuable find.
This could give us a huge leg up and help start a big battery industry in India and accelerate our EV production.
