That the Changezi chicken was created as an ode to a Mongol invader may be folklore, but we definitely found in this ‘roasted chicken in gravy’ a dish that conquered our palates at Al Jawahar, a fabled eatery near Jama Masjid, Old Delhi. Alongside other Mughlai fare, we also tasted a unique Shahi Sheermal, a rich, fortified bread cooked in a tandoor at Haji Nizamuddin.
