2016 Bentley Flying Spur UNBOXING Review - When The BMW 7 Series Is No Longer Expensive Enough

Today's unboxing review is for a sedan that has a total of 616 hp. Do you need 616 ponies? No, but that's not the point. Welcome to Bentley ownership, and the 2016 Flying Spur is the perfect example of performance and luxury all packed into one. Would you expect anything less from a Bentley? Of course not. The Flying Spur was first launched back in 2005 and a recent refresh has helped to make it even more competitive in this uber luxury segment. What's interesting is that the Flying Spur, essentially a sedan version of Continental GT coupe and cabrio, is based on the same platform that underpinned the previous generation Audi A8, and yet it's still considered one of the best big luxury sedans on the market.
Our tester was equipped with a lot of extras such as $12,775 polished wheels, $2,080 veneered picnic tables, and a $1,245 wood and hide 3-spoke steering wheel. Oh, and one more thing: the exterior paint alone is a $5,715 option. Performance? Try 0-60 mph in only 4.3 seconds and a top speed of 199 mph. Power is sent to all four wheels (40:60 front/rear split) via an 8-speed automatic transmission. Perhaps it's best to think of the Flying Spur as a limo with attitude; you want to be behind the wheel but the passenger accommodations are also exuberant.
