We tested Rockit Cool's custom copper IHS for Intel CPUs, including the i7-8700K and other LGA115X CPUs. Includes thermal testing vs. stock.

We test the Rockit Cool custom copper IHS for Intel CPUs, which adds about 15% more surface area over the stock Intel IHS. This is a CNC machined copper heatspreader, and is slightly larger than the Intel alternative. Side-by-side comparison shows this -- the Intel integrated heatspreader for the i7-8700K is slightly thinner and has less contact area than the customer copper IHS that we're testing today. This benchmark requires delidding, of course, and we are testing the delidded 8700K with a ~5GHz overclock for most benchmarks. Testing was also conducted with Thermal Grizzly Conductonaut liquid metal between the IHS and die, and we used a syringe of thermal paste on top of the IHS (between the X62 CLC).
