The Chiappa Rhino is a revolver designed in 2008 by Antonio Cudazzo and Emilio Ghisoni. The latter also designed the Mateba revolvers, some of which also had the barrel positioned below.

The point of having the barrel mechanism in line with the lowest chamber of the cylinder is to bring the recoil axis closer to the shooter's hand, making the shot more controllable as the gun will tend to rise less.

The 60DS is a rather intriguing revolver, and a welcome change from the ergonomics and aesthetics of traditional revolvers.
