Israel Launches Airstrikes In Lebanon In Retaliation To Hezbollah Rocket Fire
The IDF carried out airstrikes in Maifadoun, southern Lebanon, targeting a building used by Hezbollah. At least six Hezbollah members were killed in the strikes. Israeli warplanes also broke the sound barrier three times over Beirut in less than 30 minutes on Tuesday, just before Hezbollah chief Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah’s address in Beirut. In retaliation, Hezbollah launched multiple airstrikes at different locations in Israel, wounding 19 people. Meanwhile, in a televised speech, Hezbollah leader Nasrallah promised a "strong and effective" response to the assassination of its military commander Fuad Shukr by an Israeli strike. The Lebanese group also congratulated Yahya Sinwar on becoming the new political chief of Hamas.
