We played through a Fender 68 Princeton Reverb combo, simply mic’d with a Shure Beta 57.
Gibson's 2016 Traditional Les Paul Studio 50's Tribute gives you the familiar resonant sustain you need for blistering solos and massive power chords. A major part of the Les Paul tonewood recipe is the fusion of a Maple top on a solid slab Mahogany body with a single cut-away and a Satin finish to show the true elegance of the Gold top finish. This combination is largely responsible for the legendary Les Paul sound, and in days gone by it also created the Les Paul's reputation for being rather heavy. However, on the 2016 model, modern weight relief techniques during the machining process have been scientifically applied to the 2016 Traditional Les Paul Studio 50's Tribute as well, helping the guitar to achieve a much lighter weight mass ...
The neck's 1950's style profile is complimented by a smooth, sultry Rosewood fretboard that has Acrylic Trapezoidal inlays for fret orientation and the one-piece Rosewood fretboard is actually marginally thicker than it's original counter-part to provide a better playing experience and enhanced sustain and vibrance. Meanwhile sound comes from a 490T pick-up at the bridge and a 490R located at the neck position, both of which are Open-Coil humbuckers and these are controlled/managed by their own tone and volume controls along with a cream coloured 3-way toggle-style pick-up selector switch located at the left hand shoulder of the instrument.
Rather than the usual natural wooden rear facia on a Les Paul, the 2016 Gibson Traditional Les Paul Studio 50's Tribute Gold Top has been given a black gloss Nitrocellulose lacquer - just like on some of the Les Paul models made back in the 1950's. Hardware remains period correct also with a Tune-o-matic bridge and stop bar tailpiece (both finished in Chrome) whilst at the headstock you'll find period accurate machine heads with "Green-Key" tuning buttons keeping everything perfectly in-tune ... This instrument comes with a Padded Gibson gig-bag.
