Audi A6 3.2 - ABS Wheel Speed Sensor

ESP fault - see owner's manual, parking brake malfunction, car will skid, ABS is faulty were the warnings I was getting on my instrument cluster, every time I slow down, since a few weeks. I feared the ABS module failed again because these are the symptoms it exhibits but a scan revealed that the ABS wheel speed sensor is faulty. I replaced the sensor but the error persisted.
