Over the last year Baikal
Over the last year Baikal Lake has become one of the most popular destinations in Russia since most people are unable to travel abroad. Baikal Lake as well as small villages in Irkutsk Oblast are a part of the Pribaikalsky National Park and therefore are closely watched by local authorities and prosecutors.
Although unknown to most tourists, a problem for local people rises. The local authorities have sent notifications to the locals claiming their residence in the National Park is illegal. Locals assume that there are influential people who would like to own this territory for their business purposes.
