Radiosurgery is a procedure using ionizing radiation to kill a tumor or destroy a lesion to treat cancer. The total recovery time is 8 to 9 weeks.
Recovery tips:
The patient will spend 3 to 5 days recovering in the hospital. There must be a responsible care partner to take you home after your treatment.
You may wash your hair 2 to 3 days after your surgery. Keep your head elevated on a couple of pillows for one week to lessen swelling.
You will be able to resume everyday activities within 2 to 3 weeks post-procedure.
You’ll probably lose some of the hair on your scalp. Hair will grow back 3 to 6 months after treatment is completed.
Skin may become pink or tanned and symptoms will decrease about 3 or 4 weeks after treatment.
Avoid strenuous activities and exercise for 4-8 weeks.
Doctor will tell you when you can drive, which is usually at least a month after treatment.
Fatigue may last 6 weeks to 12 months after your treatment ends.
