Fall Trout Stocking on Quittapahilla Creek, Lebanon County (B-roll) 2023

Fall trout stocking continues on about 100 streams and lakes across Pennsylvania this month. Today, the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission stocked hundreds of trout in the Quittapahilla ("Quittie") Creek in Annville, Lebanon County.  The section that was stocked is a Keystone Select section where anglers must use artificial lures and catch-and-release only. There aren't as many trout stockings in the fall as there are in the spring, when the PFBC stocks more than three million trout in approximately one thousand waterways, but many anglers say they prefer the beautiful fall weather.  The fall trout stocking schedule can be found on Fishandboat.com.

In addition to today's stocking, volunteers with the Doc Fritchey Chapter of Trout Unlimited gathered to say thank you to Waterways Conservation Officer Doug Deppen, who covers portions of Dauphin and Lebanon Counties. After more than 20 years with the PFBC, Deppen is set to retire in December.

"If you want a great fishing experience, fall fishing is one of my favorite times. The leaves are changing, the scenery is a lot nicer, and you're not battling the crowds with other people. Because fall fishing is sort of an individual experience rather than the first day of trout where you go to camp, you have your kids and family and friends. So, I sort of enjoy fall fishing, just to get out on the stream and forget about all the stuff that's going on and just focus in on catching some fish."

"This is probably going to be the last time that he's going to be stocking with us, as he's retiring, from what we understand, in December. So, take an opportunity to wish Doug a happy retirement, and hopefully he'll be wearing one of these Doc Fritchey volunteer t-shirts pretty soon."
