Searching for Gaugamela in Iraq

In 331 BC, Alexander the Great pulled off one of the most stunning victories in military history when he defeated the Persian military at Gaugamela. Dramatically outnumbered, Alexander used his tactical brilliance to outmaneuver the Persians and bring down the empire. The exact location of the battle, though, has never been fully determined.
