I will discuss why you must do these things to be successful on LinkedIn. Find out what I learned from teaching LinkedIn to more than 500 people.

The most professional social media network is LinkedIn. The social media platform lets you share your experience, skills, and qualifications with future employers. It also helps you build and interact with your professional network and grow your personal brand as a professional.

I spend a lot of time on LinkedIn. It is a great place to learn, interact with your network, and build your story. Yes, an up-to-date LinkedIn can help you find your next job, but it is more than that.

It's not just a place where you update your profile so that you can find another job. LinkedIn has evolved since it was launched on May 5, 2003. LinkedIn is one of the world's largest professional networks on the internet, and for a good reason.

I have taught LinkedIn to more than 500 colleagues during my marketing career, including students at Duke University. I have found that they need to do three main things: update their LinkedIn profile, learn how to use LinkedIn better, and shape their personal brand.

Often the conversation with my colleagues goes in the direction where they start asking themselves questions such as

How can I incorporate LinkedIn into my daily work responsibilities?
Where do I get more business value from it?
How do I maximize my time on it?

Here's what I learned from teaching LinkedIn to my colleagues and what I found most people need to do on LinkedIn to use it more successfully.
