Here is the review and unboxing video to come of December 2023 and will be the last one to come of this year. This time we rewind to 1983 with this train set. I would like to personally thank all of you for voting in the poll I did back in August and here is the end result. A Lima 1983 Inter-City 125 Train Set in OO gauge and what a great retro train set to cover to bring this year to a close on a good note.
The details of this OO gauge retro train set from Lima are as follows. The reference number is 1070006Z3 and the train set and this time around, I used the original steel track for most of the video this time as I wanted to keep the integrity of the review as authentic as I could do. This train set is 40 years old at the time this video was done and it ran like new. As per usual, I added some fresh oil and gave it a run in session to getting it warmed up and running nicely. The ringfield motor was very quiet on this one even at 50% power in the test.
The Class 43 High Speed Train 125 is this time in the BR Blue/Grey InterCity livery which was the original livery as applied when the real trains were new and built from 1976 to 1982. The power cars here are W43167 and W43168 that makes this High Speed Train set based on the Western Region HST's. The real life locomotives worked the Great Western Main Line from new until withdrawal by GWR in 2019 where the Class 800/801's took over operations.
Overall Rating: 9/10.
That is the final review of the train sets for 2023. Who knows what I will be doing in 2024. I look forward to doing more content. There is some retro model train reviews to come of model trains only but only one more for this month.
