While the War in Vietnam
While the War in Vietnam raged on the music created during this period became iconic, This theater of War took place in Vietnam between 1955 to 1975. Fuelled by China and Soviet Russia helping and encouraging the rise of Communism with the purpose of converting the whole of Vietnam to Communism. The US were becoming more and more involved and in 1963 started sending troops to try and halt the progress of the Viet Cong, The War finally ending when American soldiers were shipped home in 1975, details vary but around 58,000 soldiers many of them young men lost their lives in this conflict, and around 220,000 South Vietnamese. The fall of Saigon to the communists signalled the end of the war in Vietnam.
The period during 1963 to 1975 inspired many musicians to create some wonderful songs that in turn were adopted by American soldiers stationed in Vietnam.
This song pays homage to those crazy days long gone.
