In this video we teach you how to wire a 3 way switch. A 3 way switch is a wiring circuit that allows you to turn on or off a light fixture or set of light fixtures from 2 light switches.
Typically 3 way light switches are installed at the top and bottom of stairways where you have one light switch at the top of the stair and another at the bottom of the stairs controlling the same light fixtures.
To Install A 3 way light switch you will need to get 3 way switches, and 14/3 or 12/3 wire to add a 3 way switch. We've listed the supplies you need below.

To Wire A 3 Way Switch:
1. Turn off the power at the circuit breaker for the light switch circuit you will be working on. confirm that the power is off.
2. Remove the existing light switch and identify the hot, and load wires.
3. Route new wire from the existing switch to the location of the new 3 way switch you will be installing.
4. Wire the new 3 way switch to the new wire you ran and install into the new junction box. 5. Wire the other 3 way switch in the existing junction box and connect the wires per the 3 way switch wiring diagram.
6. Install the light switch and cover plate and restore the power. Test the light switch.
7. Congratulations your 3 way light switch has now been installed.
