Chilika Lake is the largest lagoon in India and second largest in the World. Kalijai is an island where Maa Kalijai resides. Kalijai Island comes inside Chilika Lake comes under Khordha district of Odiaha state. The scenic beauty of the Kalijai temple, cannot be described in words. During winter season many migratory birds come to this Kalijai Island or Chilika Lake. To witness this migratory birds many tourist from all over India and world comes Chilika Lake where kalijai temple situated. Apart from birds one can see the fishing activities which was going on the lagoon. To go to the Maa Kalijai temple one had to hire boats as it is only reachable through water. The traveling by boat to this temple is also a heart throbbing things as one can witness the beauties of the lagoon. But during summer one should not enter Chilika in afternoon. It is dangerous to enter Chilika as it is the time of thunder storm and heavy wind flow.
