Faking It

The plaintiff hired the defendant to help her children get to the United States from Haiti. She claims that instead of helping her, the defendant scammed her, so the plaintiff is suing for a refund. The defendant insists he tried to help the plaintiff and did a lot of work, but the plaintiff provided fake birth certificates, so he couldn’t complete the job.
