Bengali "Kavya-geeti" performed at 'Vaibhav'
Bengali "Kavya-geeti" performed at 'Vaibhav' organised by the Cambridge University Indian Classical Music Society.
This composition was written by the national poet of Bangladesh, Kazi Nazrul Islam. It is themed on the "Purva Raag '' pada of the Shri Krishna Kirtan Kavya which is one of the oldest literary pieces from Bengali literature. In this song, Radha's friend incites the yearning of Raadha by describing spring weather amidst which the young Krishna arrives. The song is based on two very contrasting raagas - raag Bihaag and raag Marwa - one celebratory and the other gentle!
