Heritage Day in South Africa signifies the celebration of cultural wealth, national unity, the convergence of our identities and diversity.
This day was designated for South Africans to recognise and acknowledge each other's unique contribution to the country's rich tapestry.
Heritage Day gives us the opportunity to navigate that diversity by engaging in valuable conversations that make us reflect on who we are and our uniqueness.
And, as we observe this day, we are joined by four young South Africans to hear their views and perspectives on topics ranging from identity, the importance of languages, views on healing, social reconciliation and social cohesion, as well as the influence of pop culture in South Africa.
Let's introduce our guests:
28-year-old Vuyiswa Ndlovu is a hawker and social media campaigner.
29-year-old Roshan Dulabh is a civil engineer and DJ.
25-year-old Jacobus Cordier is a financial advisor and LLB student at UP.
34-year-old Palesa Hloele is a writer and editor. She is the head of international research at African Hidden Voices.
