How to crochet The Regency Era Wrap/Shawl (Vintage Crochet Series)
Hello everyone, I hope you are well and having a good week!
Today I would like to bring to you a very special project, my Regency Era wrap. Indeed, as some of you may know, I love the nineteenth century, which was actually the subject of my Master's Degree Dissertation (Romantic Art in French Nineteenth Century Painting). Long story short, one may call me a 19th Century art and fashion aficionado, and I love nothing more than creating crochet pieces from my favourite era. I hope you enjoy making this easy and beautiful project as much as I loved creating it!
This pink beautiful wrap was inspired by watching the BBC's latest rendition of Les Misérables, which is my favourite book in the whole world. I absolutely adore Victor Hugo and his romantic depiction of 19th Century Paris and France, and the BBC did a great job filming the characters for this masterpiece series.
This wrap is characteristic of this era-the 1820's approximately (the Second Restauration in France, and Regency Era in England), as it is rectangular in shape, quite narrow and long, in a very feminine colour. I tried to recreated a stitch which was popular in French 19th Century, which I have called the Archs and Fans stitch. It does look a lot like the Virus Stitch, but lengthwise if that makes sense. I have called it my Regency Era Wrap, and hope you will enjoy this new #vintagecrochet series too!
PS sorry about the lighting in the beginning of the video, it does get a lot better when we start the tutorial!
