Carbon is essential to life. But lately, it’s been placed in a bad context. We should redefine the word carbon, and celebrate the powerful natural process of photosynthesis in plants, and how Regenerative Agriculture can help restore and grow these processes (pun intended). This clip from 'Kiss the Ground' documentary says it all.

"Plants use sunlight as energy, they pull carbon dioxide out of the atmosphere, they turn it into a carbon fuel, and that's how they grow. But 40% of that carbon fuel they send down to their roots. They're leaking it out in a very strategic way...and in the process...carbon gets fixed in the soil." - Kristin Ohlson, Author of 'The Soil Will Save Us'

"There's a tendency  to be at war with Carbon. Carbon is "the bad guy." I think that's a lost opportunity" - John Wick, Founder of Marin Carbon Project

Using regenerative agriculture, we can increase the amount of carbon that an area of land can store, transforming farms from carbon liabilities into carbon sinks, and in doing so, stabilizing the climate.

Long story short: Carbon is good when it's in the soil!

IMPORTANT UPDATE:
Our latest documentary film 'Common Ground' - which is the follow up movie to Kiss the Ground - will be released in theaters in the fall of 2023. It has received the 2023 Human/Nature Award from Tribeca Film Festival, and will be screening exclusively at festivals until it's wider release. The new film builds upon this incredible movement and all the work that farmers and ranchers and organizations and allies (including all of you) have spurred around the world. We have successfully regenerated over 25 million acres and played an important role in the USDA's decision to invest over $20 billion into these and many other 'climate smart' agricultural practices! Now, our goal as a global community is to have 100 million acres of land under Regenerative Agriculture practices by 2035. If you'd like to join the movement, or continue to support us in this work and this mission, please visit commongroundfilm.org, and make sure you are subscribed for all the updates.
