AF BBQ Babyback Ribs | 4 Ingredient Recipe I’m still torn over which method I like best for making ribs – pressure cooking or air frying. The pressure cooked version comes out super tender and fall apart, while these air fryer ribs are toothsomely chewy and juicy at the same time. I think they’re both great and I’m glad I don’t have to choose! Next time I buy ribs, I think I’ll cook them in the IP first, then char them with sauce in the AF second (instead of on the grill or under the oven broiler). Stay tuned! Use whatever seasonings/sauces you prefer. You can go keto on this by using a sugar-free sauce like G. Hughes. I am using a 6qt basket-style air fryer – temperature and times may differ depending on your specific air fryer model. **This video and description contain affiliate links. Remove the membrane from the back of the ribs. Use a paper towel to get a clean grip. Cut the ribs into 3 or 4 pieces to fit into your air fryer. (I find that 2 larger pieces of 3-4 bones and 2 smaller ones of 2-3 bones make it easier to “Tetris” into my 10”x10” basket without overlapping.) 2. Rub the ribs all over with liquid smoke and barbecue seasoning. If you want to avoid using liquid smoke, you can use a little olive oil instead. This liquid will help the seasoning stick to the ribs. 3. Let the ribs sit at room temperature for 30 minutes to marinate. 4. Cooking the ribs: Place the ribs into the air fryer in a single layer. Air fry at 375° for 15 minutes, flip, and air 15 minutes on the other side for a total of 30 minutes. (NOTE: I like to start bone side up just because by the time we’re done cooking, we’ll have it meat side up for presentation. Otherwise, it doesn’t really matter.) 5. Caramelizing the barbecue sauce: Flip the ribs to bone side up. Use a brush to slather barbecue sauce on the ribs. Air fry at 375° for 3-5 minutes, flip, slather more sauce on the meat side, and air fry another 3-5 minutes. (Check every couple minutes and flip or take them out before the sauce burns. Depending on the the sugar content of your sauce, it can go from delightfully caramelized to burnt in a flash!) 6. Let the ribs rest for 15 minutes before cutting and ENJOY!
