This week I shoot the Gamo Swarm 10x, the Gen 2 iteration of this magazine fed Gas Piston air rifle. The idea of a springer that is a multishot is appealing, because I do a lot of my small game hunting in very cold weather, and single loading pellets with cold numbed finger or heavy gloves make springer a no-go mush of the year for me.
I have to admit to being a bit of a gun snob when it comes to springers, generally prefering to shoot high end German and British guns. I look at most of the lower cost guns designed for the mass market and sold through big box and sporting good stores, and don't find all that much to get excited about.
But my experience with this rifle have caused me to rethink my biases and I'll be trying out more of these types of rifles in future. I will take this rifle out on a squirrel hunt when I get back from Texas in a couple weeks, and see how it works for me.
At any rate, I found this gun to be accurate, fairly powerful, consistent, and shootable, above and beyond the multishot magazine. And that magazine worked very well, without a misfeed, jam, or any other type of failure noted.
If you are looking for an attractively priced springer for small game hunting, the Swarm Fusion Gen 2 deserves a look.
