Lincoln has just unveiled the latest version of their midsize SUV, the Nautilus, and it's more impressive than ever before. From a stunning new exterior design to a tech-forward interior and a greener powertrain option, there's a lot to love about this SUV.
The exterior. The Nautilus commands attention with a large grille that's available in four distinct patterns, depending on the trim you choose. A new daytime running light runs horizontally through the grille, connecting with the headlights for a sleek and modern look.
The sculpting along the sides of the SUV is tasteful and understated, while the newly integrated door handles sit at the same level as the door trim for a seamless appearance. The rear of the Nautilus features a full-width taillight and hidden exhaust outlets that give the SUV a clean and uninterrupted look. With a choice of 20-inch, 21-inch, or 22-inch wheels, the Nautilus is sure to turn heads wherever it goes.
The Nautilus features a new powertrain lineup that's designed with the environment in mind. The base engine is a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder, which generates 250 horsepower and 275 pound-feet of torque.
It's paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission and comes with standard all-wheel drive. But for those who want even more power, Lincoln has dropped the twin-turbo V6 in favor of a hybrid option. The hybrid powertrain pairs a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder with an electric motor and CVT, delivering a total system output of 310 horsepower. While this is slightly less power than the outgoing V6, it's still more than enough to satisfy any driver.
Inside, the Nautilus is packed with cutting-edge technology. The most eye-catching feature is the full-width screen at the top of the dashboard, which consists of two 23.6-inch screens fused together. The portion of the display in front of the driver is dedicated to a traditional instrument cluster layout, while the portion that extends to the passenger side is fully customizable.
You can use it to display media playback, the weather, and more. While Lincoln isn't confirming anything yet, there's a chance that this screen could even support streaming services like Netflix and Hulu. However, any content that requires interaction (like games) will be locked out while the car is in motion.
