For seven seasons Medical Center blazed the trail for the modern medical show, dragging the genre up from the staid hospital soap operas of yesterday to the controversy courting adult dramas of today. Anchored by Chad Everett's starring role as heart throb surgeon Dr. Joe Gannon, MEDICAL CENTER regularly broke TV storytelling taboos while confronting the issues of the day. Aided by Chief of Staff Paul Lochner (James Daly), Doctor Joe takes on sexually transmitted diseases, scalpel happy docs, unethical researchers, and abortion while tending to a who's who of acting guest stars, including William Shatner, Walter Pidgeon, Dyan Cannon, Tyne Daly (James' daughter, playing his daughter!), Mercedes McCambridge, Slim Pickens, Martin Sheen, Richard Thomas, Cicely Tyson and O.J. Simpson. Sharply acted and powerfully scripted, MEDICAL CENTER finally makes a most welcome return to the public's attention in this 6 disc, 26 episode complete season collection.
