Guatapé is a village, which is about 2 hours away from Medellín (50 miles) and one of the best daytrip from there. It is very popular for the amazing rock Peñón de Guatapé. Peñón de Guatapé is a monolith with a height of 220 meters. After the visitor climbed about 658 stairs, he has a spectacular view over the lake Embalse de Peñol around the hill.
