2008 BMW e64 650i 3rd Brake Light Removal Process

Removing the 3rd Brake Light on the 2008 BMW e64 6 Series (it's the long one on the trunk or boot lid.  Mine was damaged and would not longer stay flush to the body as the plastic has become brittle and tabs were all broken.  Looks like I will need to buy another one, but since a used one from a doner car will probably just a brittle, I will be buying a new replacement.  Most pictures I saw for used ones being sold also had broken plastic tabs so most likely they would not survive the installation.
