Well, here's a game no one in their right minds would want to revisit - perfect for the RetroSkins crowd!  It's the 4-9 Redskins vs the 2-11 Panthers from rainy Erricson (or Ericcson? who cares) Stadium, with both teams crawling from the rubble following 0-7 season starts.  The Redskins certainly had more bound in their rebound, seeking their 5th win in 7 games.

It's hard to believe that it was these same two teams in this very stadium kicking off the '97 season - the energy of that opening night, played in front of a packed house under the lights and on national TV, was nowhere to be found in '98 Panther Country.  But, despite the teams' lousy records, this was still a fairly entertaining game (see for yourself!)   Washington rolled out to a big lead and the Panthers rallied to infuse some last-minute drama into an otherwise gray and gloomy day.

On a sad note, this game was the last for running back Terry Allen, who reaggravated an ankle injury after ripping off 56 yards on what would be his final 2 carries as a Redskin.  Trent Green, Leslie Shepherd, Albert Connell, and that beeeeeeend but don't break defense picked up the slack as the Redskins improved to 3-0 vs Carolina.

Remastered in glorious standard definition - enjoy!
