Hong Kong's record-breaking rainfall triggers major flooding, landslides

Hong Kong was hit with record-breaking rainfall that is being described as a "once-in-a-century" event. Hong Kong's transport system faced severe disruption due to the heaviest rainfall on record in 140 years — brought on by Typhoon Haikui which made landfall in the Chinese province of Fujian on Tuesday.

Two people died and over 100 were injured in the storms, local media reported.

Eric Chan, the Secretary for Administration, announced that the "extreme conditions" warning will stay in place until at least midnight due to floods and landslides affecting Hong Kong.
