Trying to beat the Moon
Trying to beat the Moon Lord on Expert difficulty in Terraria? No worries, here's one very simple way to solo him easily in about 3 minutes! All the gear is pre Moonlord as usual, so if you're trying to defeat him for the first time ever in Expert mode, you definitely can with this method. I'm using melee weapons here, but you could use anything else that does good damage and has a bit of range to hit the different parts of the Moon Lord.

SETUP
Flying mount:
- Cosmic Car Key (UFO mount), or any other flying mount with enough speed.
Weapons:
- Solar Flare (melee, more damage)
- Daybreak (melee, more range)
Use anything that has good damage and a bit of range. Doesn't have to be melee weapons, you could use ranged, magic or summon equipment too if you want.
Minion:
- Stardust Dragon Staff
Potions:
- Super Healing Potion
- Ironskin Potion (defense)
- Regeneration Potion (more health regeneration).
Food:
- Cooked Fish or any other food item
Expert difficulty cuts your health regeneration rate by 50% unless you have eaten any sort of food, so be sure to do so and get the Well Fed buff!
Armor:
- Squire's Great Helmet
- Valhalla Knight Breastplate
- Valhalla Knight Greaves
Solid defense and a lot of health regen!
Accessories:
- Charm of Myths
- Cross Necklace, very important if you want to avoid a lot of hits!
- Worm Scarf
- Berserker's Glove
- Frozen Shield, immunity to knockback works in tandem with the Cross Necklace
- Celestial Shell, optimal performance if used during the night (I didn't).
Remember to reforge the weapons and accessories for more defense and attack power!
Furniture buffs:
- Sharpening Station (armor penetration for melee weapons)
- Bewitching Table (1 extra minion)
Strategies for the boss fight:
- go for either the left or right eye first and take it down
- avoid the big laser by flying up and around it, or take a hit before it and go through with the Cross Necklace
- with 1 eye down, fly to the destroyed palm and stay there: you'll take small chip damage constantly, but with the Cross Necklace you can avoid other hits!
- take down the upper eye
- take down the remaining eye
- get in either palm, and take down the heart
- DONE!
Congrats, you have just defeated the Moon Lord on Expert difficulty!
A shout-out to WaffleTime, saw the palm method used on his channel. You can beat the Expert Moon Lord without that tactic as well if you want, but that requires flying around the big laser attack so you don't take too much damage. Still doable though, that's how I first defeated him!
