The upcoming elections in Bangladesh are all about one person: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

Hasina once fought for democracy in Bangladesh. Her critics say she now threatens it.

Hasina's main rival, the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), is boycotting the polls, claiming her government cannot ensure a fair vote.

Analysts predict the 76-year-old leader is practically guaranteed her fourth consecutive term in office.

Hasina's entire political life has been shaped by the 1975 military coup and assassination of her father, the first leader of independent Bangladesh.

Hasina and her main rival, chief of BNP, former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia ran the country alternatively for years in a bitter rivalry.

Zia, now ailing, is under house arrest.
