Jane Morris was an English embroiderer in the Arts and Crafts movement in the 19th century, and an artist's model who was seen as embodying the Pre-Raphaelite ideal of beauty. All of the paintings shown here were made by leading Pre-Raphaelite painter Dante Gabriel Rossetti, with whom Morris had an infamous affair.

Notice the differences and similarities between what Morris looked like in 'real life' (recorded in these precious early photographs taken in 1865), and Dante's idealisation of her.
