When older adults begin to experience physical or mental health changes, like with dementia disorders, for example, it can be difficult to know which steps to take when aging parents need help. It can be hard for family caregivers to know how to balance autonomy and independence with concerns for risk and safety.

In this video, Dr. Sara Qualls, clinical geropsychologist and Kraemer Family Professor of Aging Studies & Interim Director of Clinical Training at the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs (UCCS), will share tips for family caregivers helping aging or elderly parents who are finding themselves in the role of a caregiver.

This video addresses the following questions:
- What to do when aging parents won't move?
- How to get started with helping aging parents with dementia?
- How to have difficult conversations with older adults while honoring their dignity?
