The Maronite community in Rome celebrated the feast of Saint Maroun for the first time together since the parish was founded last October during the visit of Patriarch Nasrallah Boutros Sfeir.Before hundreds of believers who participated in the divine liturgy, the president of the Maronite college, Monsignor Hanna Alwan, said the Maronite Church is called today more than ever to mp4e forward in fulfilling her mission in the Middle East, as entrusted to her by the Lord, to promote a civilization of love and to be an instrument of peace between all components of society.Among the participants at the liturgy, Cardinal Leonardo Sandri, Prefect of the Congregation for Eastern Churches, who reminded the faithful of his visit to Lebanon this past November, highlighted the important role of the Maronite Church in Lebanon and the Middle East, a role he said that is appreciated especially in three areas: in social life, ecumenism, and interreligious dialogue.Since the founding of the Maronite parish last October, the Maronite College began offering catechism and Arabic courses to the children in the community, to help them preserve their Lebanese traditions and the traditions of their church.
