9.3 Poisson Regression Connection To Poisson Distribution and Odds Ratios

This video makes connections to material typically covered in intro statistics courses. First, I review the poisson process which gives rise to the poisson probability distribution. I then demonstrate how we can use Poisson regression to estimate the rate at which events are occurring (which is assumed to be know in the poisson distribution). I also talk about how the poisson regression model can be used to estimate a rate ratio (RR) adjusted for other variables. These videos support a course I teach at The University of British Columbia (SPPH 500), which covers the use of regression models in Health Research.
