João (Vladimir Brichta), a renowned photographer, is on the lookout for a fresh face in fashion from small towns of south Brazil. In Garibaldi, he discovers Maria (Vitória Strada), a young woman of rare beauty who aspires to be a model, but does not return after her initial test.
Determined to sign a contract with Maria, João visits her family home. There, he finds out that the girl's father, Pedro (Francisco Cuoco), opposes his daughter's modeling career, while her mother, Anita (Adriana Esteves), supports Maria's desire to leave town in pursuit of her dreams. Getting involved with the family, João falls in love with Anita and now wants to take both mother and daughter away.
Set against the picturesque backdrop of southern Brazil, the story of "Real Beleza" unfolds intertwining João's personal and professional paths, finding much more on his journey than he ever expected.
