Using a camera lens for astrophotography makes a lot of sense when you want to shoot wide-angle nightscapes.

In this video, I use a Canon 50mm F/1.8 Lens to photograph the deep sky objects in the Orion Constellation.

Shooting with an h-alpha camera filter helped me to ignore much of the light pollution from the city, and capture faint details of the nebulae in Orion.

The camera tracked the movement of the sky using an iOptron SkyTracker Pro camera mount.

In my resulting image, you can clearly see the Orion Nebula, the Horsehead Nebula, and Barnard's Loop!
