Patio Furniture looking a bit weathered and worn? Here is a beginner's guide how to get your outdoor wood furniture looking new again!
Hi Everyone!
We've had our outdoor patio furniture for over 2 years and it has gotten so worn that it is to the point we no longer enjoyed sitting on them because they just didn't look nice anymore.
I've never restored outdoor furniture before so I set out to tackle this project and bring back some life to my patio chairs. Along the way I learned A LOT of information, along with tips and tricks from the mistakes I made. I hope that by sharing everything I picked up during this experience, it can help you with your project and save you valuable time and money!
Products I used & mentioned:
• For Cleaning: Starbrite Teak Brightener and Cleaner
• Wood Oil: Starbrite Teak Oil (if you plan on going this route)
• Stain: Valspar Transparent Exterior Stain and Sealer in Canyon Brown (do not use with oil)
• Varnish: Helmsman Indoor/outdoor Spar Urethane in Clear Satin
• Varnish Cleanup: Mineral Spirits
• Disposable Gloves
• Scrubbing Brush
• Steel Wool or Sponge with Scrubbing Pad
• Paint Container like Disposable Cup
• Clean Cloth or Rags (Old T-shirts work great!)
• Foam Brushes
• Natural Bristle Paint Brush for Spar Urethane
• Drop Cloth
• Sand Paper: I used 80/100 grit and 400 grit
• Electric Sander: Bosch Random Orbital Sander
