4 (5?) ships and 6 salutes in under 2 hours! Who do you think won the horn competition? Although I’m pretty sure I know the answer… James R Barker, John G Munson, Burns Harbor, and John J Boland (plus a bonus visit from Vista Star) all sailing under the Lift Bridge. Barker had just finished loading iron ore, Munson was departing Fraser Shipyards after getting some minor maintenance done and went up to Two Harbors to load iron ore. Burns Harbor was taking Barker’s spot at or ore dock to load and Boland was departing after delivering limestone. Tried to get a shot of Burns Harbor and Boland passing in the harbor from the center of the lift bridge but the bells started going off for the bridge about to go up, so we hurried to the other side instead! (Thus the odd gap in the video where I switch sides and the Boland appears out of nowhere) All four ships put on a heck of a show, each in the way they do best!

Can’t beat that! (Ok fine. Probably could but it was sure a lot of fun!)
