The best science shows that the chance of having one or more magnitude 6.7 or larger earthquakes in California over the next 30 years is greater than 99%. Such quakes can be deadly, as shown by the 1989 magnitude 6.9 Loma Prieta and the 1994 magnitude 6.7 Northridge earthquakes.
This video stresses the importance of being prepared for the next major earthquake in California. It shows detailed instruction and visual demonstration of the Drop, Cover & Hold procedure that should be practiced on a routine basis. Managers and Supervisors should encourage all of their employees to understand and participate in these earthquake drills.
