The LZ 129 Hindenburg (Luftschiff Zeppelin 129) was a large Nazi German commercial passenger-carrying rigid airship. It caught fire as it attempted to dock with its mooring mast at the Lakehurst Naval Air Station, Lakehurst, New Jersey, on 6 May 1937. Of the 97 people aboard (35 passengers and 61 crew) there were 36 men and women on board who died plus one member of the ground crew. Public confidence in very large passenger-carrying airships was broken and the crash brought an end of the airship era.  To purchase Dr Myhra's Ebooks or for more information, please visit http://www.luftwaffeaviationhistory.net/ or  http://www.freewebstore.org/ebooksbyd...
